    There is malware that loads faster and plays better quality content that this piece of garbage. Everyone who built this should be ashamed that the content their teammates produce sits and is (rarely) played on such a heap of crap. Downloading almost never works unless you are next to a router. Playback is impossible—which kind of defeats the purpose of having the downloads. Dunno what AT&T was playing at when it thought it could drive up revenue by making everyone hate the mobile experience of its flagship channel and content producer… Also—Apple should be Infinity ASHAMED of itself for giving this app the “Editors Choice” laurels.

  • Why is your app so terrible?

    Of all the major streaming apps (Netflix, Amazon, Disney, etc), HBO is BY FAR the worst. You have one job. It’s mind boggling. Want an example? What’s the point of downloading for offline viewing if they don’t work? I was on the airplane and your app continually force closed. Restarted the iPad. Restarted your app. Still force closes. When it does work? Laggy. Lack of customization features. And on and on and on…

    This app hasn’t worked on my phone for months now. It just says “cannot connect”. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and same thing happens it looks like the mobile server crashed. Idk what else to say besides that other than it works great on my tv and that’s about it.

    Plenty of good stuff to watch but the app is terrible. I went with the one month subscription just to see how it would work streaming from my phone and mirroring to tv…I have other streaming services and they all work fine with little to no problems doing this, but after I read other reviews I was skeptical about HBO. Unfortunately they were right. Video will cut out often, audio will cut out even more often (maybe once every 15 min), oftentimes an error code will pop up and just stop what you are watching, and the only fix to any of these is to exit all the way out of the app and restart it. Also just in general the app can be a pain to navigate, it is set up pretty good for browsing something new or different to watch, but is terribly slow. Overall I would recommend trying it for a month to see if it might stream from whatever devices you have better, but would definitely not recommend the one year subscription. Only real positive is the selection of content is really good, but the app itself and the streaming service through the app was basically unwatchable for me and needs a ton of work. Maybe I’ll try it again in a year or so and see if they finally address all these same problems other people were complaining about over a year prior to this review.

    The AppleTV app can’t be normal for 2 seconds. It scrolls differently than every other app on the box, too much physical energy to swipe and look for things to watch. And now I can’t use the Siri remote anymore to search with voice. This is like the Ukraine war…no positive end in sight.

    Worst ad supported streaming app. The ads are out of sync and cuts out scenes from whatever you are watching. Wish I didn’t pay for the whole year.

    Constantly getting switched over to the downloaded section because I’m “not connected to Internet“ even though I am. It’s really annoying because the app won’t even try to reconnect most of the time, so I just keep having to restart it to no avail.
