  • Fun, but unreliable at critical moments

    By Johnny Applesauce Jr
Super fun and addictive game, but it has the tendency on my iPad to lag out at the worst possible moments. I think the network code is not resilient enough for competitive play unless you are on a rock solid WiFi connection. Obviously the game can’t fix my internet connection, but maybe it could give me some kind of indicator about latency and packet loss so that I don’t try something crazy too close to the end of my turn. Or maybe it could take player latency into consideration and give a buffer time at the end of the turn to account for this. I’m just spitballing some practical solutions here, but I truly think it could and should be improved. I play in my apartment building's exercise room with four bars of 5G for whatever that’s worth. It’s not like I’m playing in a car where the connection is unpredictable and constantly changing.

  • Blizzard’s Greed

Sadly I’ve been playing this game on and off nearly a decade now and every step of the way it feels like blizzard uses this game to see how much they can squeeze out of their player base before building collapses. When I first started playing the concept made enough sense, you get the game for free and buy loot boxes with either in game currency (which was much easier to get) or with real money. The worst part of their business model was the random aspect of the user’s purchase. To save you the time, skip over this game unless you want to wait on the bloated hard drive space the game uses to download just so you can buy 4 different types of currency that will be useless one month and gone the next.

I only play battlegrounds, which is fun! The only gripe I have, is playing this on mobile just makes me wanna play it on my pc.
  • Great Game But…

This game is so awesome and I almost put 5 star but there are way to many downloads and most of the game you now have to pay for
  • Outdated servers

    By Rhoshi
The game itself was enjoyable for awhile however lately servers have made it almost unplayable constantly disconnecting you or closing client. I have played for years now and it has gotten progressively worse to point it’s not even enjoyable anymore. Not to mention now with new season they’ve made 3 decks the ultimate combo and basically screwed over every other class.
  • Ohhh, it’s good to see ya again!

I started playing Hearthstone in 2014. I loved the game and played it consistently until late 2019. I played for the first time in almost 3 years just a few days ago, and there’s been a few positive changes made to the game, like obtaining (free) card packs a little more easily, but there’s still work that could and should be done. One reason I’ve returned to the game is because a little birdie told me of some exciting and expansive changes that might be coming to the game soon, such as public player profiles and some other interesting features. Though I also heard of a possible subscription fee that may or may not be implemented. I hope that isn’t a part of this game’s future, because the day I’m charged a subscription fee to play will also be my last day at Harth Stonebrew’s inn, and this time for good. Anyway, some reasons I stopped playing three years ago was because I felt like I had to spend way more money than I was comfortable with in order to stay competitive, and by 2019, I felt like there were some very noticeable imbalances when it came to classes, or Hero’s. Grinding for gold, packs and dust also felt like it was getting more and more difficult…I don’t know if it was just me or if it was Blizzard trying to make it harder to play for free or on a budget, but that’s how it felt, and it was probably the latter. Not much has seemed to change since I played last, at least when it comes to price; You can spend a little on the game every so often and take your time building decks, or you can spend a lot and get what you need in a relatively short amount of time. And if you're on a budget, it is possible to play for free and still be competitive…if you’re devoted enough. Hopefully the pay to win business model isn’t as bad as it was a few years ago, but I’ll soon find out. It still seems that players are either having to spend a lot of time or a lot of money in order to build decks and collect cards from the two most current expansions, cards that become mostly unplayable in just one-two years. On a side note, there is currently some freebies, like free card packs and reduced price card packs, for returning players who haven’t played in a while…120 days I think…though it might be for a limited time, idk. Neat though. Since it’s been so long since I played last, I’d really have to play some more in order to give a more thoughtful review, though it seems to have not changed very much in the last three years. All in all, this game is pretty good, and it can be a lot of fun. It could be improved on in so many different ways, but then what game can’t? I’m so far enjoying playing again. It’s nostalgic, and sometimes conjures bittersweet memories of WoW and all the many years I wasted playing it…but that’s a story for a different review.
