  • Too inflexible to be useful to me

We are moving across the country in the time of Covid, so I am trying route planners to see if they can help me find a backroads route from NM to NY. I really tried to like inRoute, but in the end, it wasn't flexible enough. If I wanted to take a road that wasn't in their database, the app would automatically route me to the road it thought was better. After three days of trying to make this work, I am giving up and have cancelled my subscription. Too bad.

I route trips for a large group on Motorcycle trips. This app I've used for 3000 miles trips and it never let's me down. It takes some time getting use to the app, but once you do....you will be able to route on your desktop and it saves to phone, you can route on your phone easily for last minute needs and/or changes to planned route. The timeline is spot on so you can count on the time to be accurate on your route. I only use this app now for all our trips.
  • Too Expensive, don't like subscription model.

This is the only program that I've found that will take more than a few way points in a route but I don't like the subscription model and will unsubscribe and resubscribe as necessary.

The idea is great however the execution could be better. I am dissapointed that I cannot select specific dates for arrival and departure. The app forces you to select the number of days you are staying in a location rather than simply picking a date. There should also be a more easily digestable view of the route and timing.

What good is a trip planning app that can't calculate the route between waypoints??? Do I need to update?? Go button does nothing if you can find it...USELESS!!! Shame on you for wasting my time and shame on apple for putting this on the store. Go to Android or Windows where this sort of thing is status quo Joe!

  • High Power Route Optimization Affordably

I'm using InRoute to optimize weekly delivery routes totalling 200 or more locations every week. For just a few dollars a month I get access to high power route optimization processing, of the same quality as found in complex fleet management software that can cost hundreds a month. I am very happy with the value, but I do wish the app had the capability of exporting in spreadsheet format. Small price to pay though for route optimization of many locations. Love it, and my door to door produce delivery business depends on it.

Best darn travel software you can use. Been using the iphone app for years and the desktop planner makes an app even better.
  • Cool App, Too Expensive

I'm not against subscription software. I actually think it's a very good model for both the user and developer when priced fairly. At $4/month or $30/year, this app is simply overpriced (unless you're a hardcore road tripper). inRoute has a very nice user interface and some great features. It is by far the best road trip planning app I've tried. That being said, for a casual user who plans a few road trips per year, inRoute is too expensive. It costs roughly the same as 1Password, an indispensable utility that I use every single day. I'd love to support inRoute. I'd gladly subscribe at a more reasonable pricepoint, but I simply don't plan enough road trips to justify the cost. On it's own, $4/month isn't much. But these days, we're expected to pay $4/month for this, that, and all these other apps. And it adds up fast.
  • A little clunky but does what I need

I need to plan out a route across country and this tool does exactly that. The interface is a bit clunky (e.g. how do you clear a route and start a new one? What's the difference when searching between Map, Route, etc.?). You can search for hotels, search every X miles or hours for gas stations, etc. It's very functional. Wish there was a one-time fee I could pay but at least there's a free version with up to 5 waypoints, and the fee for premium planning is monthly so reasonable and I can start and stop it as needed.
